Dr. Alma Lopez is a Family Medicine physician with the Family Care Specialist Physician Group in Boyle Heights, and faculty at White Memorial Medical Center where she is involved in resident recruitment, outreach and training. Dr. Lopez grew up in the San Fernando Valley and attended Norte Dame High School in Sherman Oaks California. Her father's illness exposed her to many of the challenges patients face when seeking medical care and motivated her to pursue a medical career. She completed her undergraduate degree in Physiological Sciences at UCLA where she was involved in Chicanos/Latinos for Community Medicine, a pre-medical student support organization. She went on to complete her medical degree at the David Geffen School of Medicine where she was involved in the Latino Medical Student Association, a medical student support organization. She is very passionate about mentoring the next generation of health care leaders who will serve underserved communities. She credits her career-family-life balance as instrumental in her success.
